There is a vacancy for a Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer to the Lyneham and Bradenstoke Parish Council (LBPC). LBPC is seeking to fill this pivotal role by someone that lives in the Parish itself or is in close proximity to it. The Parish comprises 2644 people registered on the Electoral Roll with an annual precept of £46,943.
The role is part time with an average of 12 hours’ worth of work each week (this can be flexible according to fluctuations in the workload). Remuneration is subject to skill level and previous experience. A full job description is available upon application. The position is home based and the successful candidate will require access to appropriate work/desk space, file storage space, personal computing and printing equipment and reliable broadband internet connectivity.
The Clerk is reimbursed for all consumable expenses incurred during their duties supporting LBPC. The successful applicant will have a flexible approach to work, will be confident with taking accurate meeting minutes and good written and verbal correspondence skills. Good literacy and IT skills are essential to the position as are the following personal qualities: integrity, discretion, objectivity and impartiality.
The Clerk, who is also the responsible financial officer, is responsible for managing LBPC’s finances and accountancy, preparing meeting agendas and supporting papers, attending and providing advice at meetings, taking meeting minutes and producing the actions arising documentation.
LBPC meets on the second Tuesday of every month apart from January and August when there is no meeting unless required. The meetings are mainly held in St Michael’s church hall in Lyneham apart from February and November when they are held in Bradenstoke village hall. There may be a requirement to attend extraordinary meetings if required, this includes the Annual Parish meeting held in May each year.
The salary for the post is in accordance with the current National Joint Salary Scale LC1, salary points 18 – 22, and is calculated pro rata for 12 hours with reference to the standard working week for local government staff of 37 hours.
